The health risks of microplastics are still not well researched; however, scientists unanimously agree that they have negative effects on the human body. Despite this, the presence of microplastics in products is often not disclosed — or communicated to consumers in a very non-transparent way.

Jovan Badzoka and Christoph Kappacher, both researchers at the University of Innsbruck, have taken on this issue. They analyze everyday products such as food and cosmetics for their microplastic content.

As an independent analysis and certification company for microplastic-free products, they have developed a product label called PlastiTrax.
